Set Sail with Puerto Vallarta’s Regatta Race

Visitors may notice several sailboats dotting the Banderas Bay over the next few days as Puerto Vallarta hosts the 42nd Mexican Ocean Racing Circuit, MEXORC. The international regatta hosts participants from the most important clubs and marinas around the world, including Canada, France, Germany, Holland, Mexico, the United States.

Taking place March 9-14, the competition features seven regattas under four classes. The thrilling international sailing competition makes waves with 30 sailboats, ranging from 37 to 70 feet in length, each with an average of 12 crew members.

The event’s nautical headquarters are located at Marina Vallarta BVG, which boasts a boardwalk housing shops, galleries and restaurants for onlookers to enjoy. In addition to witnessing a long-running tradition and soaking up the marina’s buzz, visitors are likely to get a glimpse of dolphins and humpback whales who either call Puerto Vallarta “home” or are passing through. Be sure to keep an eye out!
