Suite Life: Santa Maria
December 12, 2017
Guests looking for dramatic views will enjoy the Santa Maria suite, a well-appointed two-bedroom suite featuring a spectacular view of the historic cathedral crown. The spacious suite is furnished with rare antiques, as well as original, one-of-a-kind hand-carved pieces from both European and local artisans.
Of note, a painting representing San Jose with Christ Child in the larger of the bedrooms, was completed on tin with an antique frame circa 1800. The armoire in the main bathroom is from the 1900s and once held priests’ robes.
The second bedroom houses a nineteenth century painting of La Guadalupana and a painting of Santo Niño in an original nineteenth century frame. The room also features an original Ballantine carousel horse circa 1940. In the second bathroom, a Peruvian painting of San Jose with Christ Child is in its original hand carved frame.
Joined by a narrow street and down a flight of stairs from the main property, the Santa Maria suite snuggles beside the crowned spire of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral, Puerto Vallarta’s signature landmark. Its name – Spanish for “The Bells” honors the verdigris chimes tolling nearby.
